Who We Are
Hello! We work with actors, singers, writers, pageant contestants, business professionals, artists, musicians, and motivated people who are interested in personal growth through creativity and the arts. We are an alliance between two long standing independent development companies -- Dorinda Dercar's Voice Studio and Doug Smith Training. Experienced performers and masters-level trainers and coaches, Dorinda and Doug are life long learners who are skilled at bringing out the best in people and helping them to achieve their goals.
Dorinda Dercar
Dorinda has appeared in theatre productions, films, and movies and has years of experience at bringing out the very best in actors, singers, dancers, and pageant contestants. Where ever you are in your performance voyage, Dorinda can help you to improve your tone, presence, pitch, style, and delivery. If you are on the road to singing, acting, or dancing success, Dorinda will propel you forward with her individual lessons, workshops, and classes.
Dorinda is also a successful pageant coach and coached the current Miss Teen USA, Hilary Cruz to her current title as well as to Miss Teen Colorado. Dorinda has also coached other successful pageant candidates and can work with you on your presence, poise, wardrobe, and interviewing skills. She earned both her Bachelors Degree and Masters Degree in Music from The College of New Jersey. Also an accomplished singer and dancer, Dorinda has toured around the world. She has also directed several important tap dance events in the Boulder, Colorado area.
Doug Smith
Doug has toured with professional theatre companies including Child's Play Touring Theatre, Mustard Seed Theatre Company, The Bucks County Playhouse and others. He has also appeared in films, television, radio, and in bands. He has his Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre and Communications from The College of New Jersey and his Masters of Science Degree in Organizational Leadership from Philadelphia Biblical University. He also plays guitar, bass, percussion, and keyboards.
Doug has over twenty-five years of business leadership and training experience at helping people to perform at their best and to achieve their goals with companies like AIG, General Electric, and Aon. His areas of exploration currently include writing plays and novels and making collages. His theatre specialty is improv.

improvarama = our lab and company for improvisational acting. We provide improv workshops in the Boulder, Colorado area and of course, we'll act anywhere! >>More.
developing creativity = a weekly program for developing your creativity. You can attend once or everytime. An open-ended community where walk-ins are welcome and many varieties of creative expression are explored. Participants who stay with the program are encouraged to develop a personal masterwork showing of their art form, which Dercar & Smith will co-produce (the artist must also participate in the production). >> More.
